You Were Born With A Purpose

Every single thing that has been created here on earth is for a purpose. I cannot use your car keys to get into my car. Your key was made specifically for your car. And the same is true for you. You were born with a purpose. You were born to solve a problem using the gifts and talents you were born with. 

What are gifts and talents, anyway? Gifts and talents are those activities that you do and you are really good at. It could be speaking, communication, styling hair, doing nails, teaching children, organizing, consulting, cooking, writing, singing, dancing, modeling, doing make-up, life coaching, graphic design, wed design, marketing etc. Whatever you are really good at is what you are supposed to be doing for a living. Whether that be through entrepreneurship or employment through a company, when you align yourself and your life with the gifts and talents you were born with, life starts to "work" for you. It seems like out of nowhere, people, places and things begin to show up to support you. These people, places and things that will begin to "show up" for you have been there all along. We simply can't see them because we have not made the mental shift to decide (decide to make up one's mind about) that we are going to be the person God created us to be and use what He gave us.

Why is that? Why are so many people not in alignment with their gifts and talents? I believe there are many reasons, but after having the privilege and honor to work with so many people over the years I have come to this conclusion: most people do not use their gifts and talents because they do not believe they are good enough. We can see other people doing what we know we have been called to do and we'll silently think to ourselves, "She/he is really good at that, if I was that good I'd try it too." Well, YOU ARE THAT GOOD! 

See, when I began to use my gifts and talents I would compare myself to people who do what I do and I began to think I wasn't good enough. Then I had to realize that I was created just like the key for your car was: with a purpose. Your key has special grooves in it that matches the grooves that are inside your keyhole. There are grooves in you and I too. 

When you know what your grooves are you realize how special they are, and you start to appreciate the grooves in other people and stop comparing yours to theirs. 

So what are your grooves?  When you use your gifts and talents they work just like a key. They begin to open doors for you. Scripture tells us that our gifts will make room for us. Whatever you are lacking in your life is a sign you are lacking using what God gave you. What will your gifts and talents unlock for you in your life?

Write a list of all the things that you know how to do really well and a list of how you can use one of those gifts and talents TODAY!
