I absolutely LOVE Saturday mornings. Actually, I love every morning. However, Saturday mornings are one of my favorites because hubby is able to sleep in and we take advantage of it! I will talk more about that later, but for now, let's talk about how to create a sacred morning. This practice does not just have to be for a Saturday morning. Some of these things I do every single morning.
1. Wake up slow. Typically throughout the week, most people hit the snooze button 2-3 times, jump out of bed at the last minute, throw their clothes on, shove some food down their throats, and then they are out the door for the day. That's not the ideal, "off to a great start" morning. However, when you take your time to wake up slow, it's like filling your own gas tank before you start running off into the day ahead. Instead of hitting the snooze button, actually get up when it goes off. The first time. There is your "I don't have any time" time. How many times have you said, "I don't have enough time"? Well, here it is. Will you take it and maximize it is the question? What should you do during this time? ANYTHING YOUR HEART OR BODY DESIRES! Here's the thing - spirituality, meditation, connecting with your creator has no "rules". Your spirit may be guiding you to meditate, pray, write in your journal, write a blog, read a blog, send a text, make a phone call, write out your business plan, sew a dress, write the lyrics to that song that has been in your heart, create a product for your business, paint your finger nails... whatever! And your body may be guiding you to make love to your spouse. I guess you've realized why Saturday mornings are my FAV. I don't know about you, but when I wake up in the morning, my body feels very relaxed and soft and I want nothing else than to become one with my husband at that time. I love this time of morning being with him and reaching orgasmic states of mind and body or being with myself to reach those orgasmic states. Orgasms are absolutely amazing for obvious reason, but orgasms can also help you overcome fear and doubt in yourself and manifest your dreams. I talk more about that in my class, How to Master Your Mornings. Your mind isn't fully awake so you don't have all those negative thoughts running through your mind yet. You know they will show up some time throughout the day so take advantage of this time while your mind is still fresh and impressionable. 2. Light some candles and write. I light candles in my house every single day. I just LOVE how it changes the atmosphere. Create a "sacred" atmosphere by lighting candles, burning incense, sage, or whatever makes you feel spiritual. 3. Stretch. In a week, your body will thank you! Read this article about stretching. And you can do this right from your bed! 8 Energizing Yoga Moves You Can Do In Bed. 4. Eat something good, drink your coffee, and catch up! By this time on a Saturday morning, I am now saying hello to the world. If you are connected to me on Instagram, you know I'm probably posting a picture of the coffee I'm enjoying, a book I'm reading, or the infamous Pinterest that I'm scrolling through on my iPad. Let this be the time you catch up on blogs you want to read, pins you want to pin, emails that need to be tended to, etc. Fuel your body with something good and highly nutritious. Eat it on your "good china". If you have been a student of mine for any length of time, you know we don't do "special occasion" dishes because everyday is a special occasion. Make your food and coffee or tea look appealing and inviting. Don't just grab any cup to put your coffee in. Use the one that makes you feel good and inspires you. Yes, coffee cups matter! Ha! 5. Walk around your house. Take some time to walk around your house and take note of the things that need to be fixed. There is nothing better than living in a space that is efficient. If you have a doorknob that has been hanging off the past couple of months, fix it. That light bulb that needs to be changed, change it. Or that smoke detector that has been beeping for the past couple of days, change the battery. Also, use this time to rearrange something in your home! This is something I totally enjoy doing and found that it is a necessity for me because I work from home so I like to change things up. What room have you been wanting to change up in your house? Saturday morning is a great time to do it! 6. Fill up 2 trash bags. Now, we can't sit around, meditating, praying, rearranging our homes, scrolling through Pinterest, and making love to your spouse all day long. Then again, on second thought… Ha! Now it's time to bring some order to things. Often times, people become overwhelmed with living in a cluttered and unorganized home because they let things get out of hand for so long that they don't even know where to begin. Begin in one closet. One room. One dresser. One cabinet. One bathroom. Take two trash bags with you and use one for the things you simply don't need or use anymore and they are in no shape to donate - throw them away. Use the other trash bag to fill with items that someone else can use and you can donate those to your local homeless shelter. So, what are you doing this Saturday morning? Head on over to Instagram and let me know!
