Many times in life we have to deal with situations that either frustrate us, make us unhappy, keep us stuck, financially bankrupt us or simply suck the life out of us. And you know what the funny thing is about having to deal with those experiences and emotions? 99% of the time we know what we should do about them, but we simply don't do it. We may go to church and hear a great word, or go to a conference and get really motivated to make the necessary changes in our lives, and we may make those changes for a little while. But then life starts to throw things at us that we didn't plan for and we get off track… until we finally give up. We think that because “something came up” it’s either a sign that our new lifestyle is not going to work or a sign that we are on the wrong path. But it’s not so. Life happens to everyone. It all comes down to habit. The life that you are living right now is a result of the habits you act out every day. So, if you don't like what's going on in your life, change your habits. I realize that's not always as easy to do as it seems because growing up we were never taught to think about our habits. As a consequence, now that we are adults we do a bunch of things “out of habit” that don't support us or make us happy. So here are the 4 new habits that you can start today and change your life. 1. Get clear about what it is you want in your life. Clarity is part of the creation process. No construction worker ever begins building a building without a blueprint. A vision board is to your life what a blueprint is to a construction worker. Take the time to create a vision board. Or, join us live in Baltimore on November 23, 2013 at our vision board workshop! We are renewed physically, mentally and spiritually when we put fresh information and ideas into our minds. If you don't grow, you grow stale. You can only act on the information you know. So, the information that got you where you are now is not the same information that will get you where you want to be. Do you realize you can read your way to success? I failed the ninth grade 3 times, dropped out of high school at 16 and never got my high school diploma, but I have been reading and studying every single day since I was 21 years old. Reading helped me get off of welfare, become confident in the woman God has called me to be and start a business that I absolutely love. Information changes the season of your life. If you are working at a job, chances are you go to a lot of meetings and trainings. Why does the company pay for you to learn? Because they know when they teach you the right information you will be better equipped to perform at a higher level. Read something every single day. If you read 10-20 minutes each day before you get out of bed and before you wake the kids up, you will see a huge change in your attitude and in your life! 3. Affirm good things. Most of the time we are saying the exact opposite of these affirmation cards. We say, "I am not worthy", "I'm not creative enough", "I am an idiot." Do you realize your words are creating your reality? When I first learned this, my house looked like a post-it factory. I had post-it notes all over my house. In the bathroom, kitchen, living room, on the front door and mirrors. You can train your brain to always look at the bright side of things, but it takes time and practice. What you see and hear on a regular basis is what you will inevitably start to believe. 4. Change your circle of friends. The people we surround ourselves with are either pulling us up or dragging us down. It's time to evaluate who you surround yourself with. There have been studies that show that the five people you talk to the most affect your entire life. Meaning, if all of your friends are broke and unhappy, the chances of you being financially able to do what you want and live an amazing life is slim to none. I make it a point to always have a friend around me that is smarter than myself. I love to learn and I also understand that you cannot fully live your dreams without people around you that support you and believe in you. So if all your friends are naysayers, you're not going to be too motivated to step out and try new things. I want to hear from you! Which of these habits can you include in your life? Or, what other habits do you have for getting and staying motivated that you can share with us?!
